You should always rinse your hair as quickly as possible after swimming in chlorine or salt water. Proceed with a conditioner or leave-in conditioner and allow to sit to prevent your hair from feeling dry. You may brush the conditioner through the hair from the scalp to the ends.

While freshly washed hair may make your scalp feel more sensitive to color or treatments, you do not want to come in with extremely dirty hair because it will make it harder for products and color to penetrate into your hair. It's recommended to wash your hair the day before your appointment. 

As much as you'd love to wash your hair in purple shampoo every time you wash it, it's recommended to use purple shampoo every 2-3 hair washes. If you wash your twice a week, you can use purple shampoo every 2 washes. If you wash your hair once a week, you can use purple shampoo every 3 washes. Purple shampoo can become extremely drying and can actually dull your hard-earned blonde color if used too often.
